More Reasons Why I Teach

I’m a teacher. By choice. I love teaching, but it’s not always fun. Many times it can be tiring. Many times it is a thankless journey. But there are few times that it’s not.

This was taken in 2015 for a BCIT promotional video. I remember this distinctly, because I was not feeling well at that time, just in time for the shoot.

What you see below is my fuel. This is why I teach. Sure, I won’t please everyone. Not everyone will appreciate or will be happy with the way I teach, but

… even if there’s one person in the class who thinks the time they spent in my class was worth it …

that’s all the reason I need.

(All names removed from cards below)

These are some of the cards and notes I recently received from my students. And a few more here.

This warms my heart.

If and when I get tired, all I need to do is remember these times, these messages, these cards.

That’s enough to energize me and put me back on track.
